Peruvian President Alan Garcia has signed Supreme Decree # 004-2008-AG declaring Gynerium sagitattum - Caña Brava (SamoaFiber) and its development for processing into bio fuels to be in the national interest of Peru.
This law provides the support and legal framework to pursue the development of plantations and the installation of Samoa Fiber’s fast pyrolysis plants in Eastern Peru where the company has options on land for the first units to produce Bio Oil.
William New, CEO of SFH stated “ I am extremely pleased with this Supreme Decree as it shows the best possible support and encouragement from the highest levels in the Peruvian National and Regional Governments. I would like to personally thank President Garcia and Regional President Yvan Vasquez for their continued confidence and support. With this Decree we have a clear path toward achieving our goals of starting our first deliveries of bio oil in mid 2009”.
SamoaFiber Holdings, Inc. (“SFH”) is commercializing the production of bio-oil with initial production to take place in Peru. SFH is developing growing operations in Eastern Peru to grow the SamoaFiber plant and then further process the biomass into bio-oil via the proven fast pyrolysis (“FP”) processing method. FP plants are being established adjacent to its growing operations and bio-oil shall be shipped to power generation customers that require renewable fuels as mandated in Europe and the United States. SFH is led by a management team that has extensive experience acquiring and processing fiber into useful forms.
